Is a writer, musician and photographer based in East Kent. Working primarily in landscape and urban settings, Phil creates narratives that situate human stories in his visual imagery. Most recently, fascinated by iconic American landscapes of crumbling old motels and empty swimming pools, Phil embarked on a journey to see if something similar could be found in the Kent landscape. This resulted in the “Anglicana” project for which he wrote short stories and composed pieces of music to accompany his images.
When I was planning my latest exhibition, I needed a printer with whom I could collaborate personally rather than merely send off files that might not come back exactly as I wanted them. Luckily I found Digiilab Printing who could not have been more helpful. We have now worked together on two exhibitions, one on Kent landscapes and also “Anglicana” at The Pie Factory in Margate. For the latter, I had some specific ideas on colour palette and we were able to sit down and discuss the best way to create the atmosphere I wanted. I now recommend Spencer and the good folks at Digilab Printing whenever I can.
